PDA Volunteer Village
The congregation voted in April 2013 for our church to become a Presbyterian Disaster Aid (PDA) Volunteer Village. We submitted a request for the PDA seed grant, and in June PDA approved our request and granted our church a generous $5,000 grant. This enabled us to pay for equipment for our dormitory to house up to 20 volunteers, as well as purchase an ice-maker and other needed items. We are very grateful for the support and generosity of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program.
Bringing a varied menu of fine music to serve both local audiences and local performing groups, the series generally includes a Dixieland Band concert, a performance by Matawan-Aberdeen Regional High School choirs, and a Valentine’s Day performance by Oasis, a local ensemble presenting songs from Broadway and beyond.
Community Food Pantry
The First Presbyterian Church of Matawan and the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Aberdeen have sponsored a community food pantry for over 15 years. Our goal is to share God’s love and blessings with our neighbors in need.
First Presbyterian Church has seen the need for wholesome food; and our Community Garden is the answer.
Thursday Crochet and Knitting Group
DO YOU LIKE TO KNIT OR CROCHET?
We meet every Thursday at 10:00 AM. We are members from our church and friends. We have been making prayer shawls, scarves and lap blankets. Our other projects include baby hats, sweaters and blankets. We are continuing to knit for World Vision. They distribute the children's articles to countries and places that are in need.
We also have been learning new patterns, styles and techniques. We not only knit and crochet, we also enjoy fellowship and sometimes lunch etc. We recently sent this batch to World Vision.
If interested please talk to Eleanor Godocik, 732.591.0579 or any member for information.
Woman's Bible Study
Women’s Bible Study continues to meet each Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Adult Lounge. They are currently discussing a book called, The Story, an abridged, chronological Bible that reads like a novel taking the reader through the bible in story form. All women from the church, their friends or neighbors are welcome to join the group each Saturday or whenever you can.

Vacation Bible School
Our Mid-Summer week-long Vacation Bible school has again been a great success. Children, Parents, and Teachers have formed relationships that will last a long time.
Even in our world today there is the scourge of hunger in many corners. Our yearly Crop Walk with participants from all over New Jersey, we fight hunger; with practical giving, with a message of hope, and a commitment to have our nation feed its needy.
