Our Mission Statement

The Mission of the First Presbyterian Church of Matawan is to be the body of Christ and to glorify God.  The church nurtures its members in faith and service and spreads the good news of God's salvation to all people.

We will extend Christian love, worship, fellowship, education and other support to meet the changing needs of the community.

To these ends, we will reach out as a congregation by:
- Sharing God's gifts
- Exemplifying God's love
- Seeking justice for all

Designated Denominational Mission Causes of Our Church are: Presbytery of Monmouth (Presbyterian Conference Center, Johnsonburg, NJ; Synod of the Northeast (Mission at the Eastward, Maine); General Assembly (Doug and Elaine Baker, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Choon and Yen Hee Lim, World Missions regional liaisons for East Asia, South Korea).

What We Believe

The First Presbyterian Church of Matawan is a reformed faith community that believes the Word of God as revealed through scripture, prayer and corporate worship.

Christians of many different kinds of tradition are agreed that the basis and authority for baptizing in water lies in the command
given by Jesus Christ to His disciples and recorded by Matthew (28:18-20)
